Most Challenging Mini Golf

Wednesday, September 7th, 2011

Come and experience the best miniature golf course in the area, and we’ve been told by enthusiastic regulars that it’s the best one in the state. We are the lakes area’s newest and most challenging course that is great fun for the whole family! We’ve had great feedback on our mini golf course from all ages. The mini golf course does have lights, so we are open after dark. The course will be lighted every evening Memorial Weekend through Labor Day.

This is NOT one of those courses that has very simple holes where they try to move as many people through as quickly as possible. We wanted to make it challenging enough so people don’t get bored…and you get your money’s worth that way, because it takes longer to play and is more fun!

Come and see our our new clubhouse this summer, our tranquil waterfall, and our landscaping is always changing and getting better throughout the course.

In doing research for our mini golf course, we went to Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head, SC, which has almost 100 mini golf courses and our research group (consisting of 4 adults and 5 kids from ages 8-16) collectively played almost 4,000 holes of mini golf. Our course incorporates some of the best ideas we saw there, and the kids all got to pick their favorite holes for the course.

Advantage of The Golf Course Review

Tuesday, September 6th, 2011

Before planning to visit a new course, many golfers will take advantage of the golf course review that is often available. This will enable them to visualize what they can expect once they arrive. There is a lot of information that can be derived from a review, especially if it is written by reputable people who have really played the course more than once. Useful information will usually include more than the personality of the clubhouse staff.

When reading a review, there are two things that really matters that will indicate how well the player will perform. Consider the two different types of golfers, one that shoots par for the course nearly every time they go out, regardless of the course or conditions, and the bogey golfer who typically scores 18 over par on every round played. Using these two groups, every hole on every course is given two numbers. One is the rating and one is the slope, which when included in the course review to indicate the difficulty of the course for both groups.

The U.S. Golf Association has standardized the rating system that is required to be included in a review. The rating is the score that average par golfer can expect to shoot on the course. The slope is the difference between what the par golfer and bogey golfer can expect on the same course under similar conditions.

When perusing a review, the course layout and pattern needs to be taken into seriously. Bogey golfers will have more trouble when the fairways are tight, but larger greens may be more forgiving. Better averaged golfers will usually have little trouble with tight fairways, but smaller greens may give them some trouble. It is often commented that it will be more helpful if the golfer’s handicap is included with what they write in a golf course review.
